DevOps

From code changes to controlled releases.

Fidalgo organizes the path between development and operations: how changes are tested, released and monitored. The work combines automation with approval, access and recovery criteria suited to the environment.

Discuss DevOps

Who it is for

For teams running production applications with manual releases, environments that are hard to reproduce or alerts that do not help explain a failure.

Problems we address

  • Releases depend on one person and poorly documented manual steps.
  • Differences between environments make failures difficult to reproduce.
  • The team lacks clear criteria for validating a change or restoring the previous version.

Possible deliverables

CI/CD pipelines

Automated testing, builds and releases, with checks and approvals based on risk. Organization of the credentials and permissions used by the pipeline.

Reproducible environments

Infrastructure as code and versioned configuration. Definition of necessary differences between environments and documentation for review and maintenance.

Observability and recovery

Logs, metrics and alerts tied to application behavior. Release, validation and rollback procedures with defined owners and limits.

How to start

Share how releases happen today, where code and environments live and which incidents recur. We choose an initial workflow to improve and validate before expanding automation.

From context to operations

  1. Map delivery

Identify dependencies, tools, access, manual steps and risks in the current workflow.

  2. Define controls

Agree on checks, approvals, environments and criteria for release and recovery.

  3. Automate and validate

Implement the workflow in stages and test releases, failures and rollback in the agreed environment.

  4. Prepare the team

Document the pipeline and procedures, review alerts and define who maintains each part.

Scope and limits

Coverage depends on agreed repositories, environments and access. DevOps does not imply 24-hour on-call support, fixing every application defect or releases without downtime. Ongoing support, change windows and responsibilities must be specified in the proposal.

Questions about working together

Does the team need to replace its tools?

Not necessarily. We assess the current workflow and reuse existing tools when they meet requirements. Any replacement must account for its purpose and transition cost.

Does automation release every change straight to production?

That is not a default rule. Tests, approvals and permissions follow the environment and risk. The team should know which changes can proceed and under which conditions.

Does the engagement include ongoing operations or incident response?

Implementing workflows and providing ongoing operations are different scopes. Support hours, channels, response times and responsibilities must be agreed separately.

Next step

Describe your release workflow and the step that causes the most delay or risk. We can define an initial improvement and the criteria to validate it.
